I thought of a hundred ways to do this page, and fought myself over about five of them. Sometimes I worry if I'm introducing too many mysteries--or referencing old ones too much.

I think the Boss Birdo fight got everyone scared that I would start anti-climaxing every big villain. That chapter was weird, ya'll

Edit: Made a slight change to the page, hopefully it fixed for everybody. Whoops~

I think there is an massive SPLAT ahead of us!
Not that it will do the big metal guy any good, but it's still there.
Cyberguy 8th Oct 2011, 9:56 AM edit delete reply
Whoa! 5 bucks says that Big Boss Bob-omb there grows a face in his chest.
Futurevgd 8th Oct 2011, 11:01 AM edit delete reply
Am i to understand McCoy did not kill something in one shot? Because that might be incredibly hard to believe...
Bonz0 8th Oct 2011, 4:05 PM edit delete reply
He said that the fight against the roboticized Shy Guys was one of the more difficult scraps he's been in. Those guys were mooks compared to Big Bob-omb.
Futurevgd 8th Oct 2011, 6:08 PM edit delete reply
But he was younger back when that fight happened, so he may have been less experienced, or maybe it was just an off day...
Bonz0 8th Oct 2011, 6:29 PM edit delete reply
Or maybe martial arts isn't as effective against cold, unfeeling robots. Not when you're used to fighting things that have/need internal organs.
vash_ts 10th Oct 2011, 6:27 PM edit delete reply
well... he ripped his head off...

if it weren´t a robot, probably it would be dead...

KBB: 'Tis but a scratch!
McCoy: A scratch? Your head's off!
KBB: No, it isn't!
McCoy: (points) Well, what's that then?
KBB: I've had worse.
McCoy: You liar!
KBB: Come on, you pansy!

I almost told ya. lets hope being a puddle isn't fatal.

Go looks totally awesome. Does he have a gas-mask on?
DemonBlood 8th Oct 2011, 12:49 PM edit delete reply
No, he's molten.
MeowMixIsorCats339 8th Oct 2011, 12:30 PM edit delete reply
KBB is going to be stepping over some really disgusting puddles...

Oh snap! Its Guy and Squishie!
NotJoe 8th Oct 2011, 3:56 PM edit delete reply
My predictions are as follows.

1: KBB turns Go into a puddle (not fatal)
2: Guy and Squishie come in and blow KBB away with lasers.
Evdog 8th Oct 2011, 6:18 PM edit delete reply
My prediction is something that hasn't been mentioned yet:

1: Go goes into KBB and uses his body.
2: Guy and Squishie come in and almost blow KBB-powered Go away with lasers.
3: Matter gets resolved ...somehow.
Ranter 10th Oct 2011, 12:37 PM edit delete reply
See, that was my theory, but I don't like to speculate, in case it messes up Morg's mojo.
red shy guy 15th Oct 2011, 2:15 PM edit delete reply
I was just wondering
When did it show that the auto-bomb shot lasers?
red shy guy 15th Oct 2011, 2:37 PM edit delete reply
sorry I went back and saw the amazing
for some stupid reason I thought that the lasers were missles or somthing
Super Mariachi Bros 8th Oct 2011, 6:21 PM edit delete reply
@ Morgenstern: I have only one beef with your comic, sir; it doesn't update as much as I'd like. Your approach to the Mario-verse is realistic (or as realistic as can be expected with SMB), well thought out and fairly clean--three attributes I love in a web-comic. You actually have me feeling some sympathy for KBB, which is impressive.

@ everyone: I have to wonder if this is a side-effect of the metal he's absorbed; Fire flowers make Go nearly psychotic. Does metal make him patient and intuitive? Whatever the case may be, he looks beautifully abhorrent. Like something out of the better class of Halloween art exhibits. Maybe he should try, I dunno, oozing into KBB through the neck and tearing him apart from the inside? That is, if KBB gives him the opportunity.
Ranter 10th Oct 2011, 1:15 PM edit delete reply
It's true that the more often one updates, the less time the fans have to speculate.

You give pretty large updates every week. Bigger than most, and with better quality, now. Maybe you might try cutting each page in half, posting the first half on Wednesday and the second on Saturday of every week as separate updates?
Morgenstern 10th Oct 2011, 6:38 PM edit delete reply
It crossed my mind, but I think it might be hard to keep the pacing straight with only two panels per update.
Evdog 8th Oct 2011, 6:22 PM edit delete reply
Let me be the first to say: "Did he died?"

Also, Morgenstern, is something special being done to celebrate Comic #100, or is it just another post, same as the others?
Morgenstern 10th Oct 2011, 6:42 PM edit delete reply
I thought about doing something real crazy, but it'll probably just be another comic.
Super Mariachi Bros 8th Oct 2011, 6:24 PM edit delete reply
Cool. I wasn't paying attention to the comment board, and Evdog already called it in spades. My regards to you, sir-or-madam.
Evdog 8th Oct 2011, 10:51 PM edit delete reply
Ah, it was only by three minutes. You heard of Elisha Gray? The thing that happened to you happens to me all the time.

And, in case you were wondering, I am a sir.

Let's party like it's Comic 99!

Ahem. Sorry, but someone had to say it (probably not...)
Evdog 8th Oct 2011, 10:58 PM edit delete reply
Just listened to what you were referencing. I wonder why I hadn't heard it before.

Then I found this.
Tommo 9th Oct 2011, 3:03 AM edit delete reply
I was actually referencing the saying commonly found in films and television "Let's party like it's 1999!" but it turns out your so awesome that you can pick up a reference even when it's not intentionally being referenced.
tutter 8th Oct 2011, 8:15 PM edit delete reply
Through the metal... it looks like he's screaming. Is he scared or in pain?
Ranter 11th Oct 2011, 7:33 AM edit delete reply
You try being a puddle and see how YOU feel.
Silver 8th Oct 2011, 11:47 PM edit delete reply
I really need to actually make an account for this... anyway... check out the shadow in the last panel, looks like KBB still has a trick up his sleeve.
Super Mariachi Bros 9th Oct 2011, 1:06 AM edit delete reply
@ Evdog: I looked Elisha up, so yeah, I've heard of him, now. :p Not wondering, so much as being polite, but thank you. Love the Metroid, by the way.
@ tutter: Where's your cheese, dude?! Also, I figured it was just his face in metal form; he kinda looked like that when he first shifted, too.
Spoon 9th Oct 2011, 1:32 AM edit delete reply
Maybe something will happen to Bob-omb Buddy which gets us an epic NOOOooo from Guy.
Infamous Nefarious 9th Oct 2011, 4:07 AM edit delete reply
I'm still reading but you still shouldn't have killed Boss Birdo. :p

Not surprised King BB isn't done yet. I've been anticipating head-spider action.
CyberSkull 9th Oct 2011, 10:16 AM edit delete reply
Your Metal power up concept is great! I'm wondering if Go is this way because of a lack of skill on his part or that is just how a native looks using such a power (I think it is safe to assume that "HE" is a freak of nature, so analogies between HIM and the locals don't apply ;) ).
antimattergizmo 9th Oct 2011, 2:22 PM edit delete reply
he did it. he made him }choke{ again.....the nightmares....

When I saw the shadow I at once thought Go was controlling him, but not quite what it's turning out to be.

Huzzah for seeing Go in a puddle! (maybe)

Mr. Vareel
I just had a thought. Go might not actually enjoy being molten metal monstrosity (those choking sounds seem to be evidence of it). Perhaps he's hoping that King Bob-omb will hurt him enough to change back. (Has someone already thought of this? I can't remember...)
Futurevgd 11th Oct 2011, 8:54 PM edit delete reply
Do you think you might enjoy being molten metal?
Ranter 12th Oct 2011, 9:31 PM edit delete reply
I might, if I could not die while being molten.

yeah.... this make sense after all why would a robot but his Brain in his head when it would be safer to put it in the nice well armored chest area...or remote teleoperation. This could get MESSY.

I speculate that King Bob-omb will pick up his head after (attempting) to knock metal Go away from it.

...and now I imagine this inexplicably happening: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=Wv1HX80u5x4#t=118s

Ok, maybe I'm just stupid, but I looked at the old comic looking for the old mystery, and I just can't seem to find a reference in this one. Can someone break it down for the dim-witted?
Hobojoe007 15th Oct 2011, 1:37 PM edit delete reply
They thought they killed it the first time, but it wasn't actually dead yet.
Captain Cupcake 15th Oct 2011, 4:05 PM edit delete reply
I don't think that's it. There's a link to an old comic in Morgenstern's post, but I can't find any link between the two.

Perhaps the sword is sharper than usual this time around.
Duskstalker 15th Oct 2011, 7:36 PM edit delete reply
Maybe it's something to do with that "you-know-who" that tagged Guy last time.
Cement 15th Oct 2011, 11:32 PM edit delete reply
Perhaps it has nothing to do with "you-know-who," and has to do with how McCoy and Martello talked about Guy...
Cement 15th Oct 2011, 11:35 PM edit delete reply
double post, because I can.
it may also have something to do with the reparation from Guy to Go...
Super Mariachi Bros 15th Oct 2011, 2:34 AM edit delete reply

I notesed one of KBB's suspenders ripped after he was tossed of a cliff.
Is it just me or do they not have anything to do with acualy holding his pants up?
