Holy crap. Experimented alot with different angles, poses, coloring methods--what you're seeing is what's left of a giant pile of scrapped drawings and tossed ideas. Even then, I'm pretty grouchy about how this one turned out.

Major payoff is on the way, though, and the end of this chapter is going to be the start of something much, much bigger.

Sidenote: I'm actually enjoying the new Mortal Kombat. That worries me a little bit.

Oh man, if you throw in a Scorpion style fatality on Birdo, I'll have no end of respect for you.

Srsly.

Also, interesting that Go's clothes aren't back to normal. When he used the fire flower it didn't seem to burn the clothing.

I'll be the first to suggest it has to do with him doing it wrong. Part of Toad magic probably includes maintaining the attire.

hey are we gonna get to see palma's eyes too? is this the face chapter? If it does we can finish it off with Guy's face.

Looks pretty good still, dynamic angles can make a comic so much better, I'm glad I caught this comic while there is still so much left to be produced, it lets me follow your growth as an artist.

good one hahaha!

Keep it up morgen hehe those piles of scraps means the much you want to make it better =P

I`m thinking the same as marcus . . . sooner or later youll have to define how the toad's magic works on the clothes hahahaha

And definetly the only one thing that the Birdo's crew did well was to wait for sasha, palma and go to get drunk hahahhaa

How it is possible that you kidnap someone but you never loot them hahaha and I may think that attacking them in their own ship wasnt smart neither =P

Come on Go you can beat it hahahaha

Sidenote: What's wrong with the new Mortal Kombat?! I'd buy it... or rent it... or borrow it from one of my friends who would actually buy it.

Noooooo, no lynchings..... And I can honestly say that I'm not terribly surprised that Go is back to normal after only one hit. It's one of the fundamental laws of Mario after all. :D

I think Birdo's onto something. Go's just not like a normal toad at all. In all the Mario games, toads run away at the first sign of trouble to go cower behind a wall and just leave all the fighting, or princess rescuing to Mario and Luigi. Meanwhile, Go runs INTO the fighting, even though he is completely useless.
Bonz0 21st Apr 2011, 3:08 PM edit delete reply

Yep, all the toads save Yvan and Walley. Maybe it just means Go is of some lineage of powerful users of the Old Art? The only toads that we've seen using it are the aforementioned duo from NSMB Wii.

Or maybe Go isn't a Toad at all. Perhaps he's a human? Or half human? There aren't that many differences between the two species except for the height, since the mushroom protrusions are only hats in this alternate universe (and maybe the canon universe as well).

The only thing that might confirm that Go is not a human is the fact that he has internal gathering points for "vim", which is something that only Toads have. At least, I assume so because Go seemed surprised that anyone whom is not a Toad even KNEW about vim, much less how to control it.

That does raise the question of how the Mario Bros. are able to use the Old Art despite being human, though.
KZ 21st Apr 2011, 3:11 PM edit delete reply
Maybe Go is secretly the child of Mario and Princess Toadstool? Or maybe Go is the same type of "Toad" that Princess Toadstool is.
Mr. Vareel 21st Apr 2011, 4:22 PM edit delete reply
Mr. Vareel
After this little incident, either the sheriff will be raging mad (for obvious reasons) or he'll be glad (the Birdo gang, which seems to be the scourge of the town, has been incapacitated…assuming Birdo doesn’t get lynched). At least, that's what I'd guess.

@Bonz0: Yvan and Walley? Who are they? Wait, give me a minute. (*Looks them up.*) Oh! So those are the Blue and Yellow Toad's nicknames (respectively)? Good to know. As for the vim, I had an idea and started to type it down, but the more I looked at it the crazier it sounded. So I don’t have anything to say about that yet.

@KZ: I personally doubt that Mario and the Princess have gotten close enough to have a kid (in terms of literal distance, not emotional attachment). But that "same kind of Toad as Peach" idea is something to think about. Hm. Am I the only one suddenly noticing similarities between Go and Peach? Could they be…related? (Quick! Somebody kill that idea, now!)
? 21st Apr 2011, 4:42 PM edit delete reply
@Mr. Vareel he definately isn't a normal toad, and the related to peach thing makes perfect sense (seeing as Morgan has chucked size out the window which i respect), i mean in certain mario games peach has... abilities at the least... heck in paper mario 1000 year door she was the conduit for the shadow princess(who we may see in the far future i kinda hope) so why not?

Acording to this comic Mario, luigi, peach, daisy, wario, and waluigi are all toads. They don't wear hats because the are above the populace: royalty, national hero, or criminal. it was in the third comic. pay attention people! Here is the comic:

Oh and Peach/Daisy are in another castle.

Not all toads wear caps. Why does this mean that all who do not wear caps are toads? The absence of evidence is not the evidence of absence!

.....or something.

That, and I don't think Mario and ESPECIALLY not Luigi would refuse to wear mushroom caps because they feel they are above the populace. Mario's too humble for that and Luigi has an inferiority complex.

Also, Mario, Luigi, Waluigi and Wario DO wear hats. So you're second sentence is kinda wrong. The reason they don't wear toad hats is because they probably want to make it obvious that they are NOT toads, that they are something greater, something from beyond the Mushroom World.

Plus, it wouldn't explain why all four Mario bros. are taller than the toads and have drastically different facial and body features.

I wouldn't doubt the idea of Peach being at least part human. Didn't she arrive to the Mushroom Kingdom the same way Mario, Luigi, Wario and Waluigi did? By that bird? I'm not sure, I've never played the "Yoshi" games.

Okay, I remembered what I forgot (uh...you know what I mean), although I'm not sure what my point was (or if I had one, for that matter). Anyway, I went to a friend's house, he dug out his GameCube, and we played Mario Strikers (or is it Super Mario Strikers?). I have to say, the Toads in that game were pretty tough. Hell, they were a pack of bad-asses (at least for Toads). I think I had some thoughts along the lines of ‘those guys should be the military Toads’, or something...bah; I don't remember the whole idea. I think I was just thinking of examples of stronger than usual Toads. (Please excuse any bad grammar in this comment. I’m a little tired and I rushed while writing this. I’m also battling an infection. Don’t ask, because I won’t answer.)

I just want to put my two cents in. Remember back in......comic 8? I believe? When Go was having a dream he said something about HER. Now, at first I thought he was talking about a toadette but after reading all of your comments, I have come to the conclusion that he was talking about peach. (Now to decide whether he know her as a sister, or a girlfriend......)
