See, I remember when I was like, "I will do only three panel strips so I can update more often"

And then I went and made a five-panel strip like a big retard. So, apologies for the sort-of-running-lateness. Other notes:

1.) If you already enjoy rum and drink too much rum, do not make rum easier to drink (i.e., adding it to soda) or you will drink way too much rum.

2.) There's a running theme with the major villains, in that they're really fun to draw but a massive pain to color. I swear, 3/5ths of the time I spent on this page was just coloring Boss Birdo. It's Thrive all over again.

Also, 200 subscribers. Massive thanks to everybody! I may have some sort of bonus comic type thing tomorrow, but we'll see.

Koopa chick is sexy :d

Also, Birdo.....

.....needs to die soon. Super creepy.

Hey we finaly get to see one of her eyes.

Hi, first time caller, long time listener. I have to say that I love the comic. It is definitely something I look forward to reading every time I am online (assuming it has updated). Also, finally we get to see Sasha's face unmasked. I have to say she looks just like I pictured her (though I was unsure of the eye color). And even though a lot of people are freaked out by Birdo, I like the character. I hope Birdo is a recurring villain.

For some reason, I think McCoy is going to get a kick out of Martello's "lack of headware"-ness.
movethearmchair 30th Mar 2011, 12:49 PM edit delete reply
absolutely love what you've done with Birdo being incredibly vain and thinking she's perfect. i hear this "hoighty-toighty" voice coming from her on this crazy beefy body and i start cracking up! keep up the great work!
Belexar 30th Mar 2011, 12:54 PM edit delete reply
For a moment, I feared we'd meet another cliffhanger instead of Sasha's face. Also, I wanted to see puppy eyes! After or during a crowning moment of heartwarming!
Madness 30th Mar 2011, 12:55 PM edit delete reply
That was the best use of anti-climaticism that I have ever seen.

Oh, Go...this is the second time you've been put out of commission for a boss fight!
tut tut

(Why do I keep posting a second comment immediately after my first?) I'm still a little confused, what is Birdo's gender and sexual orientation? Is Birdo a gay guy or what? At least let me know if this will be mentioned later; I can wait, but I can’t accept not ever finding out.

(STOP POSTING, ME!) Wait, "film it"? What do they use as a camera? And if they can film it, can't it be copied and distributed illegally? Can you pirate an illegal video anyway?

*Gasp!* SHE HAS EYES! Or one eye, anyway.

(Expect another post in 10 minutes. I'm not planning it, but...) Oh boy! I can't believe I didn't see this sooner. Birdo just took off Martello's helmet. Bad move. She has to be fuming now. I probably wear my hat as often as Martello wears a helmet. When someone takes off my hat, I attack. She can't attack; she can only build up anger. When she gets untied... Birdo should hide under a rock.

Whoooo, green eyes. Good luck for them to capture McCoy and Guy, especially with the sheriff's men around. I wonder if all of Birdo's henchmen are as gender challenged as he/she is?

Birdo looks like Lady Gaga if she ware into body building.

Btw, Martello has one awesome poker face, but I hope that seeing her eyes isn't her new permenent look! I thought she was really cool....0.0

....then again, not being able to see one's eyes hints that they're mysterious. And Sasha gave up all her mysteries already so I guess If seeing her eyes is her new look, then it's pritty fitting. Well played, Morganstern. Well played.

You can almost see the anger building up in her eye. However, everyone should remember that guy almost qualifies as a pacifist. Its up to McCoy here, but Guy'll provide a distraction.

Guy? A pacifist? As I recall he was trying to rip Go apart with a chainsaw. I think he's mostly just a whatever-needs-to-get-done kind of Guy. And, although I have confidence in McCoy and Guy, I think it would be interesting if they did get captured as well.
Triskelli 30th Mar 2011, 6:19 PM edit delete reply

Naw, if I remember right, Guy's pretty much useless in a fist-fight. Stabbed a Goomba and he had a mini breakdown.

nice try mr vareel but pacifist meens that they arn't going to hurt sentient life and thrive was filled the sentient thing like a glove so guy isn't at all a pacifist he simply has "don't kill" in his morel code (like a docter.) and only hurts if that's his orders from martello.

MisterL 31st Mar 2011, 3:34 AM edit delete reply
@Aikidoka Now that you mentioned, o_O!

And about Guy, I would say he's more of a Technical Pacifist: Ready to fight, use weapons and defend his team, but not willing to do so.

For some reason, I find myself reading Birdo's lines in Frieza's voice.

Sweet! We now have confirmation of 2 things:
1) Martello has at least 1 eye
2) She looks just as bad*** without the helmet as she does while wearing it
Oh, and she looks Super-ticked. Can't wait to see the brand of pain she and the crew will unleash on Birdo et al.
Steel 31st Mar 2011, 6:01 AM edit delete reply
Yeah I am with Martello on this one, these guys are pretty dippy as far as threat goes...though yeah I was expecting something more from Martello's hidden eyes....maybe a kick ass scare or something...eh guess thats why she wore the damn thing in the first place as to not get her face torn up.
ExarArcian 31st Mar 2011, 9:41 AM edit delete reply
I'm not sure if this was already said officially, but I'm kind of under the impression that Birdo is a guy (albeit a somewhat flamboyant one), and the "feminine" aspects of him are just his natural biology (ribbon fin, natural "make-up" akin to a cheetah). If it's NOT a guy, though, I'd be interested in seeing what a male Birdo looked like...

Interested and HORRIFIED.
Azureink 31st Mar 2011, 9:53 AM edit delete reply
Birdo is male. That is canon. One could describe him as having aspects of metrosexualism. He believes himself to be beautiful and attempts to keep his appearance in good standing. Insults to his appearance make him mad.

Think of his feminine appearance this way. When one acts in a play or movie, they are covered with makeup. But you don't normally see the makeup due to the brightness of the lights.

Makeup and ornamentation (such as a bright pink bow) has been used for centuries as a way to highlight certain aspects of oneself that the person wants to draw attention to. Such as warpaint or a king's embroidered robes and golden crown.
Whistle-tall 31st Mar 2011, 11:15 AM edit delete reply
Don't want to start any flame wars, but I don't think Birdo is a character "name" in itself, Birdo is just the species name. Like how Yoshi is. There's that one Yoshi in super mario 64 ds that the toads in the castle just call "Yoshi", right? Theres an entire island named after the Yoshi proficiency on that island! Think of it like that. I am still totally confused by the whole is Birdo male or female thing though.

PS I like the Yoshi species, yoshiyoshiyoshiyoshi. Just felt like adding that.
Therazan 31st Mar 2011, 11:17 AM edit delete reply
Birdo being male is NOT canon; it is merely the gender they gave her for her 1st appearance, and afterward many games said she was a girl. None is more canon than the other. It is also accepted that she is genderless. Yes, i used the female pronoun all the way. It is because, no matter what is her gender, Birdo is a girl IN HER MIND, and it is the most certain thing in the canon about her gender.

And both Yoshi and Birdo is accepted as the name of the specie AND the name of the most famous member of the specie. In other words, it's a big mess...

Somewhere...in another part of the universe...somebody doesn't give a damn. (Tongue-in-cheek.)

@second comment: That comment was an inside joke. Pay it no heed. (I really should stop making those... nobody finds them humorous and somebody is usually confused or irritated by them.)

I feel bad about not playing Mario. I spend my time playing Zelda so I'm afraid that I might say something completly stupid. Like if some came up to me and said, "Hey I have this really crazy theory that Sheik might actually be Zelda!" I would feel terrible if I were that person. 0-0

@Yoshi and Aikidoka Who the heck is Frieza?
Spinnerlink 31st Mar 2011, 2:06 PM edit delete reply
Frieza is a vilian from Dragon balls. Don't laugh. No joke. I am telling the truth.

I like the zelda series too, hence my name. Wouldn't it be cool if a person made a comic series like this but with not just the mario world. Add in zelda, Pokemon, Ness, and maybe another world too.

Brawl in the Family just finished a nice Nintendo crossover arc; nothing really serious, tho...

Didn't Martello had motif on her shoulders in the strips at the bar?

@Spinnerlink when I master my tablet and learn how to set up a website, I just might make a comic about Link's life after Majora's Mask. Just 'cause he got sent back in time, doesn't mean that he can't grow up again. :)
