Who wouldn't want to ambush a drunk Pirate Captain?

Sure.... wait til they're drunk when Martello is WAY less likely to hold back. Good plan there. They're gonna end up levelling that bar and probably part of the town. Bring it on.

The duo makes their return!

I hate to be a critic, but I think this strip could have used a few more action-lines. The poses and art are good, but the motions of the characters seem un-emphasized considering how intense the situation has just gotten.

Still, great installment! I can't wait to see how overblown this bar brawl gets. =]

(Also, fan theory: Haze and the Chuckette are both incredibly gay. Not that there's anything WRONG with that...But a midriff-exposing shirt and black fingernail polish? C'mon)

Over the years I've come to know the occasional gay guy. One of which even usually wearing dresses. None of which would have been caught dead in such an outfit! :D
Not that gay people would automatically have a better fashion sense than straight people, but they DO have one. Which Haze here is obviously missing completely. (^_^)

I found out about your comic yesterday (thank you, TvTropes), and I just read it from the begining. Loved every page, keep up with the good work.
PS: I agree with Triskelli about the action-lines. The poses are good, but the bottle looks like it's just floating there.
Steel 23rd Mar 2011, 9:41 AM edit delete reply
well it is a good plan but the question is "Is Martello drunk enough?" If yes then grats you ONLY have to worry about a pissed off Kung Fu master coming for your head. If no then well your are going to be HARMED right now. My bet, they should have waited till the 3rd bottle
Becker 23rd Mar 2011, 12:31 PM edit delete reply

@steel: but if they waited, we would have learned Go's origin story FAR to early! They were doing us a service by giving him a concussion!
But now I'm wondering if El Capitan is too drunk to fight, or has an extremely high tolerance level and will be fine...
IndiePoser 23rd Mar 2011, 12:44 PM edit delete reply
What if Martello is like Jackie Chan and fights better drunk?

I just noticed that haze's shirt is based off the pattern on the diamond walls from smw in bowsers castle, or maybe I'm just over looking into it.

Hey I am just recalling a movie called Six String Samurai where the guys DIDN'T wait till the target was drunk enough. To Qoute "I wanted you to kill ONE MAN and what do I have now? Dead Bald Guys!"
The dead guys? Highly trained killers, the target...Buddy Holly. Its a weird and wonderful movie. BUT the point still stands IF the target can still form COMPLETE sentances, then the target is not drunk enough.

As far as Martello being drunk enough to ambush... She's a captain of a pirate ship, of course she can handle her liquor like no-one else.

You said before that if palma had the money that she would buy them an airship. I have done some research and airships seem to be just as magical as the chainless so it might be more plausable and a lot cooler if the chainless gets upgrated later with airship parts so it can sail and fly. Also, for a long runing villan I sugest a snifet. They have canons for mouths, probobly all of guys skills but none of his mercy. It would be cool

Checked out the 3DS at Best Buy today.

The world no longer has enough depth to satisfy me. Must resist temptation to cryogenically freeze myself until the 27th. I don't think I can go two more days in this sad, empty, depthless world.

For me its very simple: if Tales of the Abyss 3D becomes availabl in North America, I'll get 3DS. Otherwise, no way I'm spending money on it. Comes a time in a Gamer's life when he has to take a decision... especially if he's broke.

Tales of what now? I was sold on Paper Mario 3DS. It's been too long since we've had a PROPER Paper Mario game.

Mariokart and Super Mario 3DS didn't hurt the case either. Super Street Fighter IV 3D just gave me a reason to buy the game at launch. Street Fighter X Tekken is looking pretty cool as well.

After playing Pilotwings, though, I probably would have bought the console at launch anyways. I'm not even a fan of Pilotwings or flight simulators in general yet I still had trouble convincing myself that hiding behind some DSi boxes until they closed up the store and playing the game all night probably wasn't the most sane idea.

That feeling you get right when the blurry double image just clicks and becomes this layer of depth is probably better than the 3D itself.

And come on, how can you justify not spending the money? You've had SEVEN years to save up for a new handheld if you're a cool kid like me who bought a DS Phat!

I could see how you might not want to fork up the dough if you recently bought a DSi or DSi XL, though.

They had me pretty excited at Kid Icarus. I'm going to have to wait until the price drops or something, though, just because of how much crap I'm already having to spend money on.

Possibly going to conventions = No getting to buy fun stuff for a while.

Well, I was buying interesting games; after the disappointment of the DS, I'm not so interested in saving for the new Nintendo handheld for now, even if it is in 3D.

Why did the DS disappoint you, Therazan? Was it the underwhelming launch line up? If so, I agree, it sucked. Since I wasn't playing the thing non-stop, though, I think Super Mario 64 DS lasted me pretty long. I think even now I still have one more hidden star to get.

Except remakes, like Super Mario 64 DS, Pokemon, Kirby Superstar Ultra, Fire Emblems, and such, interesting and actually enjoyable games on DS were way too rare. Though, I admit that back when I still used to buy DS games, i sucked at evaluating games' worth b4 buying them...

Well, I only really play my handhelds when I'm not in range of a computer or my Wii so I only really need one or, at most, two new DS games a year. There's a whole lot of DS games I missed, too, like the fourth and second pokemon generations. I probably only have like 10 games.

The fact that there seems to be a growing number of DS users at my High School since they've started letting us use electronic devices during lunch gives another reason to get the 3DS, of course. Not to mention the fact that I sold my DS Phat to my neighbor a few days ago for 40 bucks so I have no handheld and a bunch of useless DS games.

However, I can already identify at least 10 3DS games I would enjoy. And that selection doesn't even include the really hyped up ones like Ocarina of Time and Kid Icarus. They look like solid titles but I'm just not a fan of those genres. As far as Zelda goes, I've only played Twilight Princess on the Wii and while I enjoy the game it's not exactly a "must have" for me. I suppose I should give Kid Icarus a chance before writing it off, though. I'm just not sure what game I could play that would give me an idea of what Uprising will be like. It looks so drastically different from the classic Kid Icarus games.

Well, since you will play 3DS, don't miss any chance to try Ocarina of Time, it is truly worth it; Twilight Princess isn't a must have for me neither, but if i have the 3DS someday, i'll get OoT; even if i have it on N64. Even if i'm currently playing it to show it to my 5 years old brother. The music is both enjoyable and memorable, the history is simple, but interesting, and the places and characters are well made.

I'm not getting the 3DS if Tales of the Abyss isn't released in North America, but i'll probably buy the 2nd version of 3DS to my brother when it comes out, along with Zelda:Ocarina of Time (and borrow it to him long enough to do one walkthrough)

I'm just gonna throw it out there, the DS might be my favorite system since the SNES.

New Super Mario Bros., Phantom Hourglass, Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey, Dragonquest IX, the Pokemons, Nine Hours/Nine Persons/Nine Doors, Animal Crossing: Wild World (and its cousin-in-law Magician's Quest: Mysterious Times), Scribblenauts, good Castlevanias, Elite Beat Agents, the Warioware games, Professor Layton, Etrian Odyssey, new Mario RPGs, Mario Kart DS... not counting games that aren't entirely my cup of tea, but were still very popular/well reviewed like GTA: Chinatown and Ninja Gaiden: Dragon Sword.

But to each their own, I suppose.

I'm not entirely sure there is going to BE a second model for the 3DS. What could they possibly add to it? Didn't they run out of ideas back with the DSi Xl, which was exactly the same as the DSi? I can't imagine they could anything to a second model that wouldn't result in either a similar or even increased price. The only version that was cheaper than the original was the Lite, and all that added was a few new brightness levels (the 3DS and DSis have more), a longer stylus and lighter, flimsier casing. The battery life wasn't much better, either, if you wanted the screen even remotely bright.

All the reasons why I'm not getting a 3DS.

-We just got a wii for Christmas.

-I'm too young to get a job so I can't buy one with my own money.

-My parents already think that I spend too much time on video games.

-My parents think that I might possibly be obsessed with video games.

(their breaking point was when I constructed a Midna helmet for me to ware while I play Twilight Princess.)
