There's a little more elaborating I'd like to do on what all McCoy's figured out, but it's already wordswordswords and I've got two other parties to catch up on. I just wanted to get this last bit out of the way as a form of procrastination--the end of the Shrapnel/Palma/Go fight is going to be both lengthy and mildly ridiculous to draw

Ridiculous even by normal Shrapnel fight scene standards

Shrapnel who piledrives people

Ooh, a mind-reader!
Didn't see that coming.
Bonz0 2nd Jun 2013, 1:55 AM edit delete reply
Yeah, me neither.

I'm wondering if maybe McCoy is only half right. Maybe Fungus is a mind reader AND he knows about the Chainless somehow.
Futurevgd 2nd Jun 2013, 2:37 AM edit delete reply
Theories? I think its something to do with him being a mushroom.
Swagner 2nd Jun 2013, 2:15 PM edit delete reply
$2 says he's really a duplighost (or something related). That seems like the sort of thing they'd do.
Borfin 2nd Jun 2013, 4:15 AM edit delete reply
Awesome! New update! I couldn't be more excited.

Maltor Drey 2nd Jun 2013, 5:39 AM edit delete reply
That was sort of what I was expecting, I was thinking more along the lines of a hyperanalyist then an legitimate mind reader though. I guess I've made too many of my own characters that.
Star1412 2nd Jun 2013, 7:44 AM edit delete reply
Wow. I didn't see that coming at all.
Tobias7 2nd Jun 2013, 7:56 AM edit delete reply
Nice! I completely saw the "trying to twist our opinions on each other." I completely missed everything else. So he's a mind reader? Interesting :)
blaZe9v 2nd Jun 2013, 12:15 PM edit delete reply
Oh, mind reading? Wow, I missed that. McCoy's smarter than he looks (and acts)!
Cammiluna 2nd Jun 2013, 12:53 PM edit delete reply
And that's how McCoy can read mind-readers!

My theory - he is actually Guy from the future in disguise.
Evdog 3rd Jun 2013, 6:47 AM edit delete reply
In that case, it's a wonder that he hasn't made a temporal pair-o-socks yet.
RICK BO 2nd Jun 2013, 2:58 PM edit delete reply
Oh fuck Shark Week!

That aside, decent length, longer than anticipated. Still can't fully express how glad I am to be returning to the original style. |:D

As for dealing with mind-readers: Cue Psychedelic trip.

Great, now I can't say whether I called it or not without sounding smug...
Tobias7 2nd Jun 2013, 11:11 PM edit delete reply
The "wait you don't understand" gives me pause though. Is he really lying through his teeth here?
Guest 5th Jun 2013, 10:39 AM edit delete reply
You may have a point, I could be wrong after all.
Gah! Morg and his double double bluffs!

Welp, so long, Fungus. We 'ardly knew ye.
Swagner 3rd Jun 2013, 6:18 PM edit delete reply
Yeah, it seems to me like having your head in the grip of talons that big precipitates a rise in your medical bills.
Sheets 3rd Jun 2013, 9:27 PM edit delete reply
McCoy is such a badass. How is it that you somehow are able to make him even MORE of a badass as time goes on? He's amazing. And Fungus is a mind-reader. Awesome. Can't wait to see where this goes.
Torchlight 4th Jun 2013, 7:14 AM edit delete reply
Am I the only one that sees Fungus as potentially not being a villain? Don't get me wrong, he's done a bit of awful stuff... But I'm thinking that maybe he isn't trying to 'break' anyone. It really seemed like he was trying to do the bare-minimum to interfere with Guy and McCoy. If anything, I'm thinking he may have even been legitimately trying to help them, in a somewhat warped kind of way.
Star1412 4th Jun 2013, 7:56 AM edit delete reply
That's a really interesting idea. I didn't even think about that.
blaZe9v 4th Jun 2013, 12:29 PM edit delete reply
I considered that, and you may be right.
Maltor Drey 4th Jun 2013, 7:06 PM edit delete reply
I considered that too, actually. He didn't seem like he was trying to make trouble in his earlier appearances, just like he wanted to meet the Chainless' crew. I see a couple of possibilities: he might have a job for them. That seems fairly unlikely, though. Or, he might just be a fan.

Star1412 6th Jun 2013, 8:42 AM edit delete reply
My best guess is that he is a goomba. I'm not sure though.
Swagner 6th Jun 2013, 12:19 PM edit delete reply
A mind-reading goomba? There's a thought. If the previous goomba(s) we've seen are any indication, fungus has the right-shaped head for it...
the_unchosen_one 7th Jun 2013, 1:21 AM edit delete reply
I dont know if head shape can tell us too much though. We've only seem Goombas drawn in Ob's style and Morg's older, less evolved style. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying he can't be a Goomba based on proportions. I'm just saying proportions are hard to define in a comic that's on it's 4th art style. Or 3rd, depending on how you count, I guess...
the_unchosen_one 7th Jun 2013, 10:21 PM edit delete reply
Couldn't edit my last post, since I don't actually log in when I'm on my phone.
This is the 3rd art style, then thedanddmom was 4th, and we're back to the style we had between Ob and thedanddmom
Tobias7 8th Jun 2013, 12:12 PM edit delete reply
Yeah I'd agree. Morg's art "matured" after Ob, I'd say it changed from before to after Ob, but now it's the same Morg art goodness.

I'd actually be perfectly happy with the comic staying as Mushroom McCoy for the time being. McCoy Go... Um... Wow, not even a third idea. Does McCoy even have a confirmed first name yet? I can't remember...
Swagner 8th Jun 2013, 1:22 PM edit delete reply
I don't think so, and the cast page doesn't show one...

Personally, I can't get enough of Shrapnel. And when we last saw Go, he had an idea that we never got to see, and I'm dying of anticipation!
Canadan_Ninja 9th Jun 2013, 8:52 PM edit delete reply
Don't you know? they're actually saying his full name! it's Mc, his last name is Coy :P

Okay Okay sorry I admit that was terrible.
Star1412 8th Jun 2013, 11:48 PM edit delete reply
I can't really decide what I want to see more right now. I'd like to know about Go's idea, but we haven't even seen Captin Martello since pre-hiatus, and this looks like there could be more to it.
the_unchosen_one 9th Jun 2013, 1:45 PM edit delete reply
Personally, I think we may have seen the end of Martello for a bit more of this chapter. Laying down bets that she somehow pops up and helps Palma and Go finish off Shrapnel.
Speaking of Martello, why has she been going with melee, lately? What happened to the giant artillery she had for Thrive? I understand they're kinda relaxing, but still. She had to hide that giant hammer somewhere
Morgenstern 9th Jun 2013, 10:25 PM edit delete reply
Aaactually, that particular hammer was a random piece of construction equipment that was lounging around the unfinished basement level. There likely would have been a panic if Martello had strolled into the racing arena with a cannon strapped to her back.

She did stash some small bombs on her, but Fabes cut through those in mid-toss like they were no big deal.
the_unchosen_one 9th Jun 2013, 2:16 PM edit delete reply
So, I don't remember who had originally mentioned this a few comics back, but I just started up Animal Crossing: New Leaf and named my character Maynot and the town Whatevil, because it won't fit Whateville
Morgenstern 9th Jun 2013, 10:21 PM edit delete reply
Man, eight letters is really not enough for a good town name. I had like a hundred ideas for town names (Hustlevania, Angry Sun, Fort Refwill) but nothing fits. I settled for naming my town Sleepies.

If the comic is late it won't be by much, but if it is you can probably blame Animal Crossing
