You can kind of understand why this one might have taken me a while.

I wanted to convey a sense of confusion and loss of control from the panel layout itself--the sort of feeling associated with, well, having the entire cast broken apart and then deconstructed at their base components. I was tempted to, as a twist on the first chapter's name, title this chapter Wrecking the Chainless; I figured that might have been a little too spoilery, though.

Hopefully, the page isn't so chaotic that you can't piece it all together. I don't want it unreadable, just to take the whole thing out of its normal comfort zone and really emphasize that this whole situation has gone horribly wrong. It's been discussed, in comment pages past, that the comic overall has a certain Monster of the Week feel to it. Every chapter has a certain flow, a certain rhythm; a formula, if you will.

My favorite part of establishing a formula is in totally destroying it later.

If the name Brigand Bravo does (or doesn't) sound a little familiar, allow me to provide this handy link. This won't be the last time I link everyone back to that particular page, I'm sure; there's a still a few dirty secrets left to be milked out of it.

Wait, so they threw Go off the ship and now they want him back?
the_unchosen_one 19th Aug 2012, 8:11 PM edit delete reply
No, they kidnapped Palma

I am proud to say that I recognized the name of Martelo's old crew right away... and from the sounds of things... everything bad is directed towards her.
Starcat5 20th Aug 2012, 12:12 AM edit delete reply
I also recognized the name. I also suspect that she is suffering from "Guilt by Association" here. As in, she had not participated in the crime itself, and in fact may have left the crew because of it, but because she WAS part of the crew AT THAT TIME, it is coming to bite her on the shell anyway. That, or she blew up an "unmanned" station of some kind, only for it to be filled to bursting with contract workers and their families.
Bonz0 20th Aug 2012, 10:40 AM edit delete reply
Or she left the crew after becoming disgusted with her actions. Perhaps she realized that she had misinterpreted her father's advice.

Mind blown. Morg that has to be the most beautifully eclectic comic page I've ever seen. All the dialogue fits together so perfectly!! (The writer in me is pleased by how aesthetic it is.)
the_unchosen_one 19th Aug 2012, 8:17 PM edit delete reply
Morg, this page is absolutely amazing. My ONLY complaint is the first panel. I think that would've been better as a last panel to the last one. Especially since this didnt go into McCoy's past, and that's what everyone thought we were going to learn about

Beautiful! Can't wait for the next one. Great job Morg!

I have no words to describe the awesome going on here.
the_unchosen_one 20th Aug 2012, 12:59 AM edit delete reply
Just guessing here, but how about "awesome"?
Grimlock13 20th Aug 2012, 12:11 PM edit delete reply
Simple, yet it describe really well the situation.
Owl 22nd Aug 2012, 9:51 PM edit delete reply
"Awesome" just isn't sufficient! After all, a picture is worth a thousand words, and I think this page counts as several pictures.

AH! I see one of those little secrets. Chainless... heh...

AUGH MY BRAINS I'm so confused now. I mean I get the BB thing but otherwise DX
Jolt99 21st Aug 2012, 11:42 AM edit delete reply
Ok, it's a bit confusing but I think I get it. The crimes listed by Fabes are all about when Martello was with Brigand Bravo, although some would apply to both e.g. destruction of property and such. However I don't think they are referencing to Palma being kidnapped, although I'm not sure exactly how she joined is known, if it is I can't remember. I think the murderers comment to Go and Palma is slightly exaggerated. Twister's Borough showed that they will kill, if in defense. Martelo might have when she was with her former crew. Overall I think that the deconstruction on this page is brilliant and that things are getting really interesting. the only thing I have left to say is MORGENSTERN YOU MAGNIFICENT SONOVABITCH!
the_unchosen_one 21st Aug 2012, 11:53 AM edit delete reply
Shrapnel says straight-out "Is that what your momma would want? For you to fall in with the miscreants that kidnapped you?" PRETTY positive that means they kidnapped Palma. Granted, it might have been a little more righteous than that, like they saved her from something and she just couldn't go home at the time, but they did take her. Whether she was with BB at the time or Guy and McCoy is yet to be specified
Mr. Vareel 22nd Aug 2012, 1:29 PM edit delete reply
Mr. Vareel
Perhaps Palma's kidnapping is only that in the technical sense. Just throwing ideas around.
the_unchosen_one 22nd Aug 2012, 4:43 PM edit delete reply
Like, she went willingly/snuck aboard/asked to go with them, or something like that? But she didnt tell anyone, so her parents are all "ONOES! ROXIE GOT KIDLAPPED!" I thought something like that may have happened too

I like how perfectly placed fabes' text boxes are.

Anymore, I'm not entirely sure myself. I've contacted him about certain side projects, but... I dunno.
Tobias 24th Aug 2012, 6:34 PM edit delete reply
Well, you're doing just fine on your own :) I know it's probably tough putting it all together, but it's so much better, the characters flow so well with the story because it's your art. Side projects would be cool though, but honestly if he's not man enough to at least contact you back, forget about him. Perhaps a side project with one of us (one of the more artistic readers of your comic, not me) would be interesting though...

There's always fan comics of a fan comic. Tempted to do a girls' night out thing with Martello, Palma and Guy (yes, Guy) but Immortal Fool's kind of 40 days late for an update. I BETTER GET TO THAT. :O
