Expect some manner of rant and/or editing when I'm not quite so sleepy.

So my computer is garbage I might go ahead and take a comic week off for Thanksgiving

Is it me, or has Go buffed up?
the_unchosen_one 20th Nov 2011, 5:32 AM edit delete reply
I think his hair is longer too... Hey Morgenstern, any chance we can get a rough amount of time that's passed since chapter 1? Or... Maybe the power ups have a permanent effect on his body?
SecretAgent000 20th Nov 2011, 12:01 PM edit delete reply
If his current condition has to do with the metal power-up, I would assume that when he reformed from being blown into countless little pieces, he reformed into a better condition than he was before. Somehow.
EKA 20th Nov 2011, 3:03 PM edit delete reply
Maybe fighting sentient plants, dinosaur-gangsters, and southern, mechanized royalty is a good workout?
Super Mariachi Bros. 22nd Nov 2011, 1:14 PM edit delete reply
I'm with EKA on this one... Go hasn't been without a shirt since the Grand Reformation of Obfuscobble. For all we know, he's been in good shape for quite some time.
SecretAgent000 23rd Nov 2011, 8:07 PM edit delete reply
Though he didn't seem that buff before he fought the King in this chapter...
An interesting puzzle, indeed.

Of coruse Go made it, was there really ever any doubt (especially since "Mushroom Go" is the NAME of the thing)?

Besides, he's blond, buffed, and a Toad. OF COURSE he lives.
Ranter 20th Nov 2011, 3:39 PM edit delete reply
I feel like there could have been SOME doubt. I feel like his absence could have been extended for a couple of more comics, you know, build the suspense.
MeowMixIsorCats339 20th Nov 2011, 8:46 AM edit delete reply
He needs a serious hair cut.
MeowMixIsorCats339 20th Nov 2011, 9:15 AM edit delete reply
Also, You should have the legion of Squishies modify the Chainless into a flying ship and have them go into space to see Roselina.

Yes....that would do nicely.

Well Metal is impervious to damage. With Go's luck though he'll be turning back to metal.
the_unchosen_one 20th Nov 2011, 10:04 PM edit delete reply
Maybe he's like Colossus from X-Men now and can, for lack of a better word, turn it on and off at will
EKA 20th Nov 2011, 2:59 PM edit delete reply
I can imagine Go reforming after the battle, after everyone had just assumed he's dead, all alone...

"... And that's why I don't absorb Vim from walls anymore." "That... That's awesome."
Ranter 20th Nov 2011, 10:07 PM edit delete reply
All alone, naked and cold in the rain.
After an extremely traumatizing (and likely painfull) experience.

Yeah, basically sounds like the worst thing ever.
Knight 21st Nov 2011, 5:27 AM edit delete reply
That was not Rain, that was bits of Liquid Metal Go falling back to the ground.

nice save, McCoy. And what the heck is going on with Go's hair?
Epesi 23rd Nov 2011, 3:35 PM edit delete reply
I'm not sure I understand the question.

It's long and kind of shaggy and it's in his face. Maybe it looks odd because you're used to seeing it with the bandanna on?
Oarboar 20th Nov 2011, 5:19 PM edit delete reply
Wow. Morgenstern, have you ever read James L. Stokesbury's "A Short History of World War II?" Near the end of the book, Stokesbury makes the exact same point about freedom that Martello makes.
Owl 20th Nov 2011, 8:43 PM edit delete reply
Apparently McCoy didn't learn from the last time he bet against Go.
Ranter 20th Nov 2011, 10:03 PM edit delete reply
I like this page. Very gritty and dark. It's those thin lines that do it.

Super Mariachi Bros. 22nd Nov 2011, 1:12 PM edit delete reply
Hahaha, McCoy's line is beautiful. I'm just amused by how he and Guy managed to ninja their way behind the Captain between frames. Of course, if anybody could, it would be them.

... i wish to attack Go with a pair a scissors and throw a shirt at him
Epesi 23rd Nov 2011, 3:32 PM edit delete reply
It took me a moment to figure out that this meant "give him a haircut and a shirt" and not "stab him with scissors and then give him a shirt".

At first my misunderstanding sounded hilariously absurd, but then I remembered the chainsaw incident and realized it that being assaulted with scissors and then offered clothing would be practically routine for poor Go.
Epesi 23rd Nov 2011, 3:33 PM edit delete reply
*realized that

And suddenly, getting one of those fancy account things so that I can edit my comments sounds like a pretty good idea.
OneOfTheNamelessRabble 24th Nov 2011, 6:35 PM edit delete reply
It is not Go's fault that he is shirtless! When you are pummeled into many little puddles of goo it is a miracle if you reconfigure yourself without losing an arm...among other things a man could lose...
Owl 22nd Nov 2011, 6:36 PM edit delete reply
Is it just me or is Go's throat kinda purple-y? Maybe it's just a lighting effect, but it kinda bugs me...
Mr. Vareel 23rd Nov 2011, 12:03 AM edit delete reply
Mr. Vareel
I think it's just the lighting, but it could be a bruise if it makes you feel any better.

I already have a bunch of best friends whp began devoting all their free time into putting tons of thought in Homestuck and Ponies. This is a non-issue.
FuzzyZergling 23rd Nov 2011, 11:50 PM edit delete reply
Oh dear Gog I love Homestuck so much, it's progressed to the point of fanatical obsession.

Not really a fan of horses though.

Homestuck is probably the most awesome thing I've ever came across on the internet!

I just don't want to devote all my free time to fanart of it! HOOHOOHOO!

So far this comic has been amazing since i started reading before you even got to the super pirhana plant chapter (why havent i commented sooner) amazing way to rez Go, im kinda curious about how the art may look if you add just a touch of sketchy-ness to the outlines...nah...its perfect how it is ^^

Mr. Vareel
What IS Go's list of things he's never doing again? I guess I'll try to make one right now. Someone comment if I miss any or mess one up.

Things I'm never doing again:
-eating Mega Mushrooms
-eating Super Mushrooms while drunk
-absorbing Vim through walls
-using Fire Flowers in a room filled with highly flammable herbicide [?]

...There's gotta be more than that. Anybody got any more?
Infamous Nefarious 23rd Nov 2011, 1:29 AM edit delete reply

on a completely seprate note (which is why it's a seprate comment)

all toads have T. at the end of their name. for example Ghos T., Tace T., Em T. ... the list goes on. well by that token Go's name is Go T. or gotee, and a gotee usually signifys a badguy (Jafar) or the evil version os someone...

just an observation...
Mr. Vareel 26th Nov 2011, 10:08 PM edit delete reply
Mr. Vareel
...Where did you find out that all Toads have "T" at the end of their names? I don't remember seeing that anywhere, and although I don't think I'm in any position to deny the possibility, I would very much like to know where you heard it.
model S 27th Nov 2011, 9:03 AM edit delete reply
model S
well i don't know that it's ALL toads, but mostly paper mario and mario & luigi games, all the toads mentioned by name have the "T." at the end of their name ((ghos is from the train on PM:tTYD, tayce hails from the kitchen in PM, and if i remember correctly Em hails from the clinic in M&L:BIS))

i don't know if it's ALL toads, but i remember those 3 VERY well.

in mario party 2 and 3 there's a toad named "Battle T."

let's see who else:
Zess T in TYD
Vanna T, chuck quizmo's assistant.
Toce T, who makes the heartful cake for merlee.
Thriff T a toad merchant and brother of Plen T.
Russ T., who gives you lots of various info in toad town.
Pine T, who you find in the pit of 100 trials, after he gets owned and his son Pine T jr, sends a trouble.
Niff T. who owns a shop in petalburg
Muss T., a toad you give a letter to infront of the gaping hole where peach's castle was in PM.
Mort T. who runs the toad house in koopa village, you can deliver him a letter for a star piece.
Minh T, who is how you open the dor to flower fields in PM.
Little T who sends mario a letter.
Herb T. who owns a small bar in the rogueport sewers
Heff T, a fatass toad on the excess express.
Harry T, another shop toad
Frost T. who lives and works in starborn vally
Fice T. who's got issues regarding ghosts, even though he's a guard
there's also the famous Zip Toad, ((or Zip T))

that's all the ones i could find, so y'know... that's a HUGE number of toads mentioned by name that have the T thing going, of course most if not all are paper mario/thousand year door, so... y'know take it as you will.
Morgenstern 27th Nov 2011, 9:00 AM edit delete reply
It's mostly a trait relegated to the Paper Marios, probably because none of the other games give Toads last names. There are a handful of Toads with alternate last names--Mrs. Shroomlock and Professor Fungi come to mind, though they're both from Mario Party (whose status in the canon goes spiralling down the proverbial poop device). The Paper games at least feature Prince Mush and Mr. E, though those both could be aliases given the characters in question.

But yeah--most of the time when a Toad last name is revealed in the games (which is rare in itself), it's some weird variant of... well, Toad. Toadofsky, Dr. Toadley, etc., plus a laundrey list of "generic Ts" (Little T., Tayce T., Niff T., etc).

The chances of Go's last name starting with a T aren't absolute, but they are pretty good.

hey morg, we posted nearly the same time! good work on the comic.

to answer about mush and e, prince mush is by no means a prince, and as you'll remember mario was known as "the great gonzeles", he's not mexican, so i assume the tubba running the glitz pit gave everyone "cool" fighter names, as for mr. E, i'm not quite sure who that is, if you're refering to the one with the letter chain, it's so you think he's doing illegal stuff. as for the mario party advanced one.... i have no idea.
